Williford papers include general officer's papers correspondence and personal papers throughout the long career from his high school days in Illinois; through West Point (1902-1906); through pre-WWI coast artillery assignments; to Trench Artillery School C.O. in the American Expeditionary Forces (A.E.F.); and through coast artillery assignments in Philippines, Panama, New York (1939-1940), Fort Eustis (1942) and California (1943).
